Background
Tech Fleet is trying to build a cross-functional team culture, and in pursuit of this, we need to shift our team structure from “people with titles” (co-leads and apprentices) to “cross-functional teammates”.
Whenever this will happen, it will have many variable implications for project operations in Tech Fleet:
- Time to start projects is long and will remain long.
- There will need to be a change in how we interview and pick team mates on training teams.
- People need to set and build different kinds of expectations before getting a chance to join team about their daily responsibilities.
- Dynamics on teams will change when we no longer have “co-leads” and “apprentices”, but rather just “teammates”.
This project deals with a pilot to be able to build new operations for project recruitment and onboarding after we remove titles for co-lead and apprentice. As part of this, we want to pilot a different way to build teams by introducing asynchronous video interviews into the onboarding and recruiting process for teams. This project will include a pilot for asynchronous video interviews, and a pilot for a new way to build cross-functional teams in Tech Fleet.
Value for Tech Fleet
- Tech Fleet would contribute to the cross-functional agile culture we’re trying to build once we remove titles on projects
- Team mates would be able to experience a new kind of team dynamic, cross-functionality, that’s better for their industry expectations and better for collaboration.
