Taíno culture has a unique set of symbols...
For colors...
- Take a look at the Casa Areyto Taíno regalia series (Parts 1-3) for some inspiration based on jewelry and other artifacts as well as descriptions from the original Spanish chronicles.
- Taíno collection at The MET
- Taíno Museum gallery
- Art of the Taínos video
- Pottery from varying time periods on the islands was usually painted red on white, sometimes black was used. See attached document with samples (for internal use only since this work is not mine).
- Modern Taíno tribes tend to use that combination of colors (red, white, black) see example here. But I don't particularly think we should restrict ourselves to that. For example, macaw and other tropical bird feathers are used in headdresses, and they're vibrant blues, yellows, reds, greens, etc.
