In sprint 5, the team affinity mapped user interview findings , crafted user stories and personas, and participated in a how might we session to develop initial sketches for the solutions presented. The Figjam board for this sprint week is full of great stuff. It’s revealing to see what the team was thinking about at the time compared to the finished prototype.
Sprint 5 Demo:
- Product ideation [The team did not share any designs but sketched ideas based on competitive analysis likes and dislikes]
- Personas adjusted
- User research
Takeaways from interviews:
- People start using social media at an early age (13 seems average, but as young as 9)
- Interview subjects are aware of negative effects of social media and try to avoid things like toxic conversations
- FOMO is a common feeling and a reason for why some people get on social platforms in the first place — their friends are on there, so they feel the social pressure to join
- Most common uses for social media are keeping up with friends and family, entertainment, keeping up with news and current events, and learning something new (hobbies and/or career development)
- Lots of concern over wasted time scrolling through social media
- Some feel short form video proliferation has affected their attention span to where they can’t focus deeply for long periods of time on anything anymore
- General awareness that people post on social media to show off or at least portray an image of a perfect life
- Interview subjects indicated some sure signs of addiction to social media: using doom scrolling as a coping mechanism to avoid stress/problems
- People do take breaks from social media and some find this useful/healthy but difficult
