PILR Training aims to support under-resourced student-athletes in Philadelphia by creating a space for coaches to connect, share resources, and engage in ongoing education, such as skill-building labs and facilitated peer-learning. This initiative aims to address systemic issues affecting under-resourced student-athletes by using coaches as a nexus for change, utilizing sports to foster community safety, cultural competency, and holistic support.
The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of participation for young people in sports by leveraging the unique position of coaches as community resources.
A lack of support and resources for ****under-resourced student-athletes, which hampers their participation and development in sports. The issue is compounded by systemic barriers such as food insecurity, gun violence, and unprocessed trauma, which coaches often struggle to address individually. PILR aims to create a cohesive network of coaches equipped with skills, resources, and community connections needed to effectively support these student-athletes and address the broader systemic issues they face.
Revamp the PILR website to appeal to both Investors to invest/donate to the PILR cause and act as a resource of information for future coaches in Philadelphia, who will be recruited to be a part of PILR in the future. There is a need to refine the content, structure, and functionality of the website to ensure clarity, simplicity, and comprehensiveness.
