2. Why we decided not to include “How do you want to learn” for our MVP

Should learners choose the modality, or should the lesson serve different modalities based on the concept?

Both approaches have pros and cons:

1. Letting learners choose modality:

Pros:
- Empowers learner autonomy and preference
- Supports self-awareness of what works best for each student
- Increases engagement and motivation
Cons:
- Some learners (especially neurodivergent or younger students) may not know which modality suits them best
- Adds complexity to the UI and navigation
- Risk that learners might skip essential modalities needed for mastery

2. Serving modalities that best fit the lesson concept:

Pros:
- Ensures instructional design aligns with cognitive science and pedagogical best practices
- Guides learners through an optimized, scaffolded path for better understanding
- Simplifies the user experience and reduces choice overload
Cons:
- Less autonomy for learners who have strong modality preferences
- May not meet every learner’s unique needs perfectly
