Talking about her experience as a working mom
- On one hand, enjoyed her work and learning about Alzheimer’s
- On the other hand, felt guilty, missed some experiences with her kids
- Saw parenting examples in her workplace that she didn’t want to follow
Journey to becoming a stay-at-home parent
- Loss of identity when she stopped working- depressed and anxious, she got very emotional, then re-directed the topic to her current work situation which is much better. Became much brighter after switching topics.
- Seemed to skim over some of the challenges she faced during COVID and ended on a positive note that it’s good she was already a stay-at-home parent when COVID hit.
- Difficult to talk to husband about struggles at work and wanting to quit; initially was worried about the lack of income, and eventually came to the conclusion together that it was better overall for her to stay at home with the kids. Looked pensive while talking about the financial hit.
- Laughed about her retrospect of starting the transition into UX earlier (easily able to laugh at herself)
- Still looks at her experience as a stay-at-home parent positively (was worth spending time with her kids despite the dip in income)
Decision to return to the workforce
