Introduction
Hi (name), thank you for taking the time to talk to me today! My name is (name) and I am a member of the Research team on the Food Distro project at Tech Fleet. On the call today, we also have (X), who is another researcher/designer on the team. They are here to take notes in case I miss anything.
At Food Distro, we want to gain a deeper understanding of the food waste and redistribution process in the USA. Our project mission is to ensure that more food reaches people's plates instead of ending up in landfills.
Interview goals
To give you an overview of what’s going to happen, I am going to ask you a couple of questions about about reducing food waste and redistributing food at (name of current OR past food business).
In this interview, when we mention 'reducing food waste,' we're referring to strategies within your business to minimize surplus or unused food.
On the other hand, “food redistribution” involves giving away surplus food at a discounted price or donating to communities or external organizations. Food redistribution may be one of the strategies that your business reduce waste.
We are simply trying to understand all your thoughts. There are no right or wrong answers here, so please just talk freely. Your input is very valuable to our project.

As a reminder, your participation in this interview is completely voluntary. This means that you can choose to skip a question or choose to withdraw at any time without any consequences. After the interview is completed, you also have the right to withdraw your data if you want to, and you can do that by simply emailing us at [email protected]. We will immediately remove all data associated with you.
Audio recording
To confirm with you, we will record today’s session for internal note-taking purposes. Zoom will automatically generate an audio and video recording, but for this research, we will delete the video recording immediately after this interview, and the audio recording will be retained until the end of this project, which is December 8th, 2023. The audio recording is only available to the research team on this project, and other team members will only have access to the transcript and notes.
