In Phase 1, Food Distro team focused on a C2C food redistribution platform with individual consumers as the target users, similar to Too Good to Go app.
However, we had a change of client in Phase 2 and a shift in product vision. Our client and the team wanted to shift the fous from C2C (individual consumers) to B2B, helping food businesses (e.g., restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, etc.) with surplus food to connect with community organizations (e.g., food banks, food pantries, community kitchens) that need the food. We pivoted to B2B because businesses and organizations have more standardized processes that are easier to scale up the product, rather than targeting individual consumers. From our research, one of the key issues we found was that it's difficult for food businesses to find a good fit between themselves and a partner that can really help redistribute their excess food and utilize the food effectively. This pain point formed the basis of our product vision below.
Our vision is to empower a global shift toward a conscientious waste-free food ecosystem.
Our mission is to revolutionize the fight against food waste by cultivating partnerships between food-related organizations while empowering communities with the knowledge necessary to build a sustainable and waste-free future.
Food Distro is an online tool that connects organizations with excess food to those in need. We aim to strengthen the relationships between organizations and empower users through education on the seamless redistribution of surplus food.
