Those of us who were available for the working session decided it might be fun for us to explore some other options.

  1. We added some visual research to the Branding page. We added some new brutalism examples and I added some visuals from Lucky Peach (that magazine Ryan mentioned) and other food magazines with a similar whimsical/playful art direction. Please add more inspiration as you find them. It’ll help us later with photo searching.
  2. Experiment a bit with the current landing page (we’ll worry about the new ones after locking in the style) design using the visual research as inspiration (or any additional inspiration you find). You can put your designs on your individual pages (names are in alpha order) near the top of the page list (see below).
  3. Keep in mind that you should also incorporate some elements from the original design (colors, fonts, etc.) while keeping in mind the accessibility issues we mentioned (contrast, all caps) and style issues (finding a way to incorporate photos in a way that doesn’t compete with the background).
  4. By Tuesday at 3 pm CT, please put the design you like best in the -- Landing Page Experiment - Submissions page.
  5. Then we’ll vote. The three designs with the most votes we'll show to Ryan.
