Are there any existing milestones we should be aware of relating to the project?
I’d love to have it up and running online by the start of January 2025 when we begin advertising the conference.
What are Casa Areyto’s priorities and constraints in relation to the current project?
Priority: Research phase to find out the possible usage of Wix (pros and cons), custom solution (pros and cons).
Constraint: Budget is a constraint as we’d like to use what we’re currently paying for without additional costs. Time is also a constraint as we would like the Taíno world ready for January 2025 when we begin advertising the conference to the public.
User Information:
- Do you have demographic data from previous conference attendees?
- ~80% from Puerto Rico given where the conference was held
- ~20% from the continental US
- ~5% from other Caribbean Islands
- ~1% from other countries
- What are the main target users?
- Virtual conference attendees, English and Spanish speakers
- Conference attendees are likely to be 15+
- As an educational engagement product, I imagine it could work for ages 10+
- What do you think will motivate future users to use the product?
- Interactive aspects, exploring the world, navigating and discovering new information
- An interactive space like this has never been done for Taíno
- Visually appealing, integrating cultural symbolism, clearly depicting Taíno history and culture
- Informational, new research that isn’t easily accessible
- Integrating the Taíno language, which is not as widely available online, except through Casa Areyto videos
- Could you provide access to existing surveys or interviews?
- I’m not sure what kinds of surveys or interviews you mean. Are you looking for potential user surveys or interviews? If so, I would imagine that you could do this as part of the research phase of the project?
- Are there existing users who are willing to be interviewed by the research team?
- *If we use Phase 0 for research, then I suggest you come up with surveys and I would be happy to send along on social media and my distro list. See what we’ve been doing with the Taíno language app project with the Tech Fleet team: https://www.instagram.com/p/C7xWY-DP6AQ/*
Colors/Symbolism:
- Do you have a particular color scheme or other visual themes in mind?
- Gold and Blue symbolizing sun and sea, also the colors of the conference
- Check out the video: About our colors and logo: https://youtu.be/-zeV_e_ZpbI
We have taken note of the significance of water, specific birds, etc. Any other significant animals, plants, natural elements?
*Birds (hawk, hummingbird, owl, turkey), manatee, trees (ceiba), flowers (hibiscus), mountains (Yunque), sacred symbology on petroglyphs, and more. Here are some important videos to watch as part of your research:*Let's Talk Taíno 5 - Place Names with "ke" https://youtu.be/lvg5fAiDf3Q
