Overview

The lecture explains how to build useful, reliable products by combining design, research, planning, and software development. Quick AI-made prototypes can help test ideas, but products for real users need careful work on security, quality, and user needs. Teams should set goals, test ideas early, release improvements in small steps, and use feedback to guide what comes next. The class also covers key skills such as user experience, product management, and the basics of how websites, servers, databases, and AI tools work. Keep learning and use your own judgment instead of trusting every AI result.

Objectives

  1. Distinguish “vibe coding” from enterprise AI development, and understand when each is appropriate.
  2. Explain the facets of user experience and product management being taught in the class.
  3. Explain how to keep your brain power while using AI tools.
  4. Describe the agile product development lifecycle.
  5. Explain iterative release cycle approaches for MVP and MMP.
  6. Compare agile and waterfall approaches to research, collaboration, planning, and delivery.
  7. Describe basic two-tier and three-tier network architectures.
  8. Understand how the web works.
  9. Understand how Claude Desktop is structured with AI skills and files.

Work You’ll Do

  1. Build AI skills for Claude.
  2. Setup your own GitHub repository and push your first lines of code.

Bonus Work

  1. Enforce the skills so that AI agents always use them, decide with them, and prove to you that they used them (special lecture from Morgan, see Discord channel).
