What is The Serious Type?
- A place to give users “place and purpose”
- The creative work is intended for everyone-Youth are included as they are interested and are encouraged to engage with creative work and collaborate with others, regardless of age
- The purpose of this platform is to inform, engage and inspire; the goal is never to “dumb down” the content-Youth are intelligent, insightful and welcome in the community
- Youth aren’t the primary focus, but Nikki wants us to create this with younger users in mind
What is the focus for this phase?
- To build the platform for communication, collaboration and to give a behind the scenes look at the process behind creative work
- To inspire others to get involved and foster deeper connections and relationships (current social media is superficial and connections don’t seem authentic)
- To build a space for others to find common interests, goals, and projects that inspire, encourage connection and deeper thinking
- We might use Nikki’s guidelines to create “guardrails” to promote safety and inclusion
- There are “editors” who moderate content (unsure at this time exactly who they are)
- Nikki sees this platform as creating a sense of belonging and community, through purposeful work
- She wants to display the thought and intent behind projects
- Referred to this as a museum of sorts (you see the art, engage with the art, ask questions, explore the feelings that come up like when you view exhibits at a museum)
What is our role in all of this?
- Naming:
- Keeping the name The Serious Type for now
- Some places list “production company” or “production house”-feels like a misnomer right now
- Nikki is open to calling this platform something like “the forum” under the parent company TST
